Getting settled
Mood:  a-ok

Howdy all!  Dave and I have arrived in Georgia and after almost 2 weeks, we feel we have settled into our new home.  Life has been so crazy the last couple of weeks.  We packed up all of our belongings (well, at least everything we did not give away at the last moment) and drove accross Texas, through Louisiana, through Mississippi, through Alabama, and then into Georgia.  I drove the "teal eel" (our mini van) with my Mom who did an amazing job of entertaining Emily for the 14 hour drive.  Dave drove the 24 foot long Uhaul that contained all of our belongings.  We arrived in the late morning hours of June 21st.  We had not signed the lease to our apartment yet, so after taking care of that, we began the process of moving in.  Since we are poor, just out of college, don't know anyone in town kids, we had to do all of the moving ourselves.  And the best part, we got an apartment on the 3rd floor!  What were we thinking!  Dave and I had to carry everything by ourselves!  It was the hardest 2 days of my life (but what a great workout).  My mom left on Thursday and later that day, Katherine and Kevin Ring (Dave's sister and brother-in-law) came into town for a wedding.  It was awesome having the opportunity to spend a few days with them.  They left on Monday, the same day Dave started his new job (the reason we are here in Georgia).  During this last week, we have finished unpacking everything and have started adjusting to this new life.  It has been exciting and scary getting to know this new city (for you who do not know, we are in Marietta, Georgia which is about 30 minuted north of Atlanta).  We bought a beta fish to try and liven up the place, although we think he is depressed because he refuses to eat.  So much for that idea!  Dave is adjusting to his new job and is suffering from blisters and sunburn.  Emily is enjoying all of the space she has to crawl around in at our new apartment.  She is getting her first tooth which is so exciting!  I am trying to meet some of our neighbors and become familiar with our new environment.  We are all happy and excited to be here in Georgia!
